Top 10 Naturist Beaches in Canada

Canada has some genuinely great clothing-optional beaches. Here are 10 of the best, coast to coast.

1. Wreck Beach, Vancouver, BC

The most famous nude beach in Canada. Below the cliffs at UBC, with 800,000+ visitors a year. Food vendors, a strong community, incredible sunsets. Access via Trail 6 (steep stairs) or Trail 3. Good for: The full naturist beach experience

2. Hanlan's Point Beach, Toronto, ON

Toronto's official clothing-optional beach on the Toronto Islands. Designated by the city in 2002. Short ferry ride from downtown. Lifeguards in summer. Skyline views. Good for: Urban accessibility

3. Crystal Crescent Beach, Halifax, NS

The third cove at this provincial park is Nova Scotia's go-to clothing-optional spot. 20-minute walk from parking, so it stays quiet. Atlantic ocean swimming. Good for: Seclusion and east coast beauty

4. Little Tribune Bay, Hornby Island, BC

White sand, warm water, nicknamed "Little Hawaii." A Gulf Islands favourite. You need to take a ferry to Hornby Island, but it's worth the trip. Good for: The best water and sand combo

5. Patricia Beach, Lake Winnipeg, MB

The north end of Patricia Beach Provincial Park has a long-established nude section. White sand, warm lake, welcoming crowd. Good for: Prairie naturists, families

6. Oka Beach, Oka National Park, QC

Informal clothing-optional area in the park near Montreal. Popular with local naturists for decades. Nice park setting with trails nearby. Good for: Montreal-area naturists

7. CottonTail Corner, Devon, AB

Alberta's naturist beach on the North Saskatchewan River, 20 minutes from Edmonton. 25-minute hike from parking (follow the pink markers). The walk keeps it committed and respectful. Good for: Alberta naturists, river swimming

8. Paradise Beach, near Saskatoon, SK

Locally called "Bare-Ass Beach." On the South Saskatchewan River with a nude tradition going back to the 1960s. Sandbar swimming, relaxed vibe. Good for: Prairie tradition, casual atmosphere

9. Witty's Lagoon Beach, Metchosin, BC

Clothing-optional section at the south end, near Victoria on Vancouver Island. Rocky Pacific shoreline with park trails. Good for: Victoria-area naturists, hiking and beach combo

10. Blooming Point Beach, PEI

Unofficial naturist section at the far end of this PEI National Park beach. Walk 15 minutes east from parking. Warm Gulf waters, red sand, sheltered dunes. Good for: Maritime charm, warm water

Tips

  • Sunscreen. Bring more than you think. Reapply every 90 minutes
  • Get there early on hot weekends for the best spots
  • Bring shade. Umbrella or pop-up tent if the beach is exposed
  • Check conditions. Tides, water temp, and currents vary
  • Pack it out. Leave nothing behind
  • Stay in the designated area. Not everyone on a mixed beach is there for the same thing
